No, Squats do NOT Make Your Butt Bigger!

It’s about time someone dispels this myth. Maybe then less-endowed women would stop getting their hopes up and men would stop being afraid of performing the squat with the fear of their backside getting bigger.

First of all the reason the female’s butt is larger, or should I say chunkier than the male’s is because of the higher fat deposit in that body part. Exceptions aside, men tend to store most bodyfat around their belly while women store it mostly in their buttocks and breasts. It is that fat which gives the female a larger and shapelier behind, not the gluteal muscles. If a female doesn’t have that extra fat then her backside wouldn’t be that different from a man’s. See where I’m getting at here?  The squat primarily works the gluteus maximus, the muscle of the buttocks. It will make your behind stronger and harder but it won’t make it plump because as I have already told you earlier, it is the fat which makes the female butt plump, not the muscle. Females do not have bigger butt muscles than men. They just have more fat, especially in that area.

So if you’re one of those men who’s afraid to do the great squat with the fear of developing a behind like a female’s, you can rest assured that it won’t happen. Even if you were to perform high rep squats with little to no weight daily it is unlikely that it will happen because larger and stronger gluteal muscles should not make your backside plumper – fat and female hormones do. If anything exercise like this will burn body fat and make your butt smaller. More toned, but thinner. So if you’re a female you should stop imagining that you’ll get a butt like that of Nicki Minaj, Amber Rose, Or Nicole “Coco’ Austin by doing squats. If you take a good look at their asses you will see that they are full of fat, not muscled. Genetics are the main reason for their chubby butts.

Hopefully this will open the eyes of some people because it is sad to see so many men reject this great exercise (in my opinion the best leg strengthening exercise) because of this myth. Squats do not make your butt grow bigger, so don’t worry.

    Yeah this is common sense to anyone with a fully functional brain. Poor females are so desperate to get bigger behinds but as you said this won’t help them much. Genetics do.

      I disagree. Sure it will make your gluteal muscles bigger if you do high rep training but it would be very hard for them to get big enough to give you a plump butt, because like I said, fat is required for that.
